Coventry City's James Maddison and Ryan Haynes meet one lucky fan thanks to a Subway competition

30 January 2015

Harrison Handley won the 'Design your own Sub' competition and meet the City duo at Subway's Earlsdon branch...

One lucky young Sky Blues fan won the chance to meet their Coventry City heroes, thanks to a competition with Subway.

In December, club partner Subway ran an online competition exclusively for our Junior Sky Blue members.

The competition asked JSB’s to design their own Subway sandwich, being as creative as possible, with the chance to go and make their own subway sandwich in store with two of the Sky Blues first team players.

The winner was JSB member Harrison Handley, who is 6 years old. His winning Subway was on  Italian bread with James Madderz sauce, Ryan ham Haynes, fresh Tudgay tomato, sliced Phillips peppers,  Charles-Cook cheese, John Fleck fish and O’Brien onions- the perfect Sky Blues Subway!

Harrison spent the afternoon with Sky Blues players Ryan Haynes and James Maddison at the Earlsdon branch of Subway, learning how to make the perfect Sub and getting to know his heroes.

Harrison’s Dad Wes said, “He was so shocked at winning and couldn’t wait to meet the players again. Harrison attended the JSB Christmas party where he met some of the team- so to then find out that his winning Subway creation would get a one on one meet and greet, he really was over the moon.”

All of the Subway Coventry stores had kindly donated 1,000 cookies for the JSB Christmas Party, which had been baked that morning and handed out at the party to all the children and their parents.

Subway will be supporting the Sky Blues further this Saturday at our game against Rochdale at the Ricoh Arena. There will be Subway voucher booklets handed out in the concourse, as well as the new ‘Subbed’ half-time game, which will provide fans with another chance to win thanks to Subway! Fans have the chance to win a free Subway of their choice by simply being in their seats- it’s as simple as that!
