Coventry City manager Steven Pressley praised midfield duo John Fleck and Conor Thomas after the 2-0 win over Walsall.

The Sky Blues moved up into 16th place with the 2-0 win over the Saddlers, backed by 1772 City fans at the Bescot Stadium.

Thomas has recently returned to the side and put in a commending display next to the ever-present Fleck.

The City boss singled the duo out for special praise after the game and credited Thomas as the 'perfect team player'.

Pressley said: "John Fleck and Conor Thomas were outstanding. I thought they were the same last week in fact.

"I've said on numerous occasions before that Conor is the perfect team player. He does a lot of work which goes un-noticed but it hasn't gone un-noticed by me.

"He made some fantastic tackles and got around the pitch brilliantly, and John Fleck is just a wonderful talent.

"He's really beginning to understand the roles and has developed the defensive side of his game over the past year."

Following the win over the Midlands rivals, goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has now kept nine clean sheets during his loan spell at the club.

The City boss expressed his delight at Allsop's performance and also credited Marcus Tudgay for leading the line and scoring the second goal.

He added: "The entire defensive performance was superb. That includes Ryan Allsop of course who kept another clean sheet.

"He made two crucial saves during the second-half which kept us ahead and has grown in confidence during his time at the club.

"Marcus has given me food for thought. During his time at the club, he has been incredibly professional and has been an example to our young players.

"The levels of hard work and professionalism he has maintained shone through during the game and it was a great performance."
