City face Preston North End at the weekend and Lee Burge is set to deputise for Jamie Jones who is ineligible...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed goalkeeper Lee Burge is likely start against Preston North End, speaking to the Coventry Telegraph.

The Sky Blues will be without Jamie Jones at the weekend as the keeper, who has made two appearances for the club so far, will be ineligible against his parent club.

Burge, who has made six appearances for the Sky Blues this season, is set to deputise for Jones against the Lilywhites at the weekend, Pressley confirmed.

The City boss said: “I spoke to Lee when Jamie came in and explained to him that one of the things you have to do as a manager is get it right when to put a young goalkeeper back in, and I felt the timing wasn't quite right.

“That doesn't mean we haven’t got belief in him because we have great belief in him but I have a duty to put him in when it’s right, and he understands that.

“He’s trained very well, although he sat out Tuesday with a slight issue with his knee, but he should be fine for the weekend. And it’s a brilliant opportunity for him."
