City's assistant manager reveals that Sanmi Odelusi may be close to returning to first team action after a hamstring injury...

Coventry City assistant manager Neil MacFarlane has revealed that Midfielder Sanmi Odelusi was back in training this week ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League One game at Sheffield United on Saturday.

In an interview given to the Coventry Telegraph, MacFarlane also gave an update on several of the Sky Blues' injured players, including Andy Webster, Reda Johnson and youngster James Maddison.

MacFarlane said: “Sanmi trained with us on Monday and he’s still feeling his hamstring slightly so we’ll monitor him over the coming days towards the weekend.

“But hopefully he’ll be available for the matchday squad on Saturday.

“Andy Webster went for a scan last week and the result was better than we expected and hopefully he’ll come through this week OK and be back into contention for the weekend. Unfortunately Reda is still weeks away with his setback.

“Madders is going through a hard time with his back, he’s started to feel a wee bit better but it’s just a slow process and at that age it’s important when they are growing that we ease him along and make sure he’s 100 per cent when he comes back.”
