MATCH REPORT: Coventry City 1-1 Scunthorpe - Marcus Tudgay nets in added time to secure dramatic point

Tudgay's second goal of the campaign deep into injury time secured a valuable point for City...

Marcus Tudgay's dramatic late goal deep into added time secured a point for Coventry City in the 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe.

Former Sky Blues Gary McSheffrey fired the visitors into the lead with a free-kick before Tudgay netted his second goal of the season with one of the last kicks of the game.

The first real chance of the game fell to City as Barton played a lovely ball through to Samuel and he raced through one-on-one only to force a brilliant last ditch challenge from Marcus Williams.

The opener came on 21 minutes when Scunthorpe were awarded a free-kick just outside the area and McSheffrey stepped up to fire a wonderful left-footed effort in the left corner.

Samuel then went close for the hosts as he hit a firm strike inside the area which forced Luke Daniels into a good save.

The second-half started slowly, with the first real action being that McSheffrey was booked for diving in the area as he went past Aaron Phillips.

Paddy Madden then hit the bar for the visitors as he lashed a vicious effort from just inside the right-hand side of the area which had Jamie Jones beaten.

The Sky Blues then made a double change with Jordan Willis and Luke Williams making way for Ryan Haynes and George Thomas.

Simeon Jackson then came on for Jim O'Brien and was immediately involved - as he reached the byline and squared for Tudgay who miscued when well placed in the six-yard box.

With three minutes to go Thomas then hit a swerving, dipping effort from 25-yards which flew narrowly over.

But deep into added time City had the equaliser, as Tudgay latched on to John Fleck's long ball and dinked the ball over Daniels from inside the area.
