Ahead of Saturdays trip to Deepdale, we look at three players who have played for both the Sky Blues and Preston North End, with one current member of the City squad looking to take all three points from his former employers.

Connections - Preston North End

Adam Barton

Sky Blues central midfielder Adam Barton is set return to Deepdale this Saturday. 

Barton earned his first professional contract at Preston North End in December 2008, after impressive performances in the clubs Youth and Reserve teams.



He then went on to make 57 appearances for The Lillywhites, scoring once.

On the 6th August 2012 he signed for City on a free transfer from Preston, so far making 57 appearances and netting three times.

Stephen Elliott

Dublin born forward Elliot made 53 appearances, scoring eight goals for Preston North End who he signed for in September 2008 from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In July 2012 Elliott joined Coventry after his contract had expired from Heart of Midlothian, he went on to score four goals in 25 appearances for the Sky Blues before being released by Steven Pressley in August 2014.



Elliott now plays for Carlisle United in the Sky Bet League Two.

Kevin Kilbane

Kevin Kilbane began his career at Preston North End in 1995, making 55 appearances for the Lancashire club, before signing for West Bromwich Albion in June 1997.

He then went on to play for a series of clubs before signing for the Sky Blues on a free transfer in July 2012.



Kilbane made 9 appearances for City, before retiring from professional football on the 8th December 2012.

He is now a football pundit working for the BBC.
