HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City will be looking for their ninth victory over Port Vale in the Boxing day clash at the Ricoh

23 December 2015

The Sky Blues had been unbeaten prior to the defeat in March and will be looking to emerge victorious at the weekend...

Coventry City take on Port Vale in SkyBet League One and the head to head record between the two is mightily close.

City have won eight times out of the 27 games played between the two. Vale have won eleven times, the last of which coming in March of this year.

Nine draws have been played out, the last of which coming in March 2014 at Sixfields when the Sky Blues came from two goals down to score a last minute equaliser as the game finished 2-2.

Before March 2015 the last time the two teams played each other  was in the league clash at Vale Park ,back in December of last year.

The first meeting was 95 years ago in 1920, when the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Highfield Road. The record City victory is 4-1, achieved just a year later in 1921.

With both sides scoring in a game only six times in the last nine and two draws in the last five games, it promises to be a tight game at the Ricoh tomorrow.

With the away side emerging victorious in the last fixture between the two teams, City will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Vale.
