PRESS WATCH: "I'm not here just to be number two, I want to push myself and Lee." Coventry City's Reice Charles-Cook

The Sky Blues stopper told the Coventry Telegraph that he and Lee Burge will push each other to improve each other...

Coventry City goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook is eager not just to be the number two goalkeeper who continually sits on the bench.

The 21-year old joined the Sky Blues last summer and impressed during a loan spell at Nuneaton Town last season.

Now the stopper is ready to push Lee Burge for the number one spot and has expressed his desire not just to be known as a reliable number two.

"I’m not here to just be a number two," Charles-Cook told the Coventry Telegraph.

"Some goalkeepers accept that but I’m not going to and I want to push Lee as much as I can to better himself and myself.

"It was difficult last year and I went out to Nuneaton on loan but this year I came in for the summer and told the gaffer I want to play and that I am ready if Burgey ever gets injured.

"We all know how good a goalkeeper Lee is and hopefully the competition is there. We both want to be No.1 here and we push each other all the time.

“Hopefully I have shown the gaffer and the fans that in the games I’ve played. Hopefully I’ll keep learning and developing. I love the way we’re playing at the back now with everyone looking comfortable and no-one is hiding from the ball, and that’s how I like to play.”
