PRESS WATCH: "I want to play from the start. I know what I'm capable of." - Coventry City's James Maddison

6 August 2015

The 18-year old has had an impressive pre-season but needs to convert it into a positive 2015/16 season...

Coventry City midfielder James Maddison wants to make it a season to remember, according to the Coventry Observer.

The 18-year old has impressed during pre-season and looks set to start in City's opening game of the 2015/16 League One season against Wigan Athletic.

Maddison had an impressive end to the 2014/15 season, scoring the final goal of the season in the 2-1 win at Crawley Town to ensure City's survival in League One.

This time round, Maddison wants to be a focal point of the team and start the season as he means to go on.

The Coventry-born midfielder told Steve Carpenter: “Now I want to play from the start because I know I can do lot of good things and help the team.

“I just need to be given that opportunity, work hard and make the manager’s mind up for him by the way I play.

“If I’m doing well and hopefully doing enough to keep myself in the team he wont’ be able to leave me out. That’s my mentality.

“Personally I know what I’m capable of and I think if I’m playing games then my talent should hopefully come through.”
