Coventry City midfielder Romain Vincelot admitted he doesn't like pre-season because of the lack of competition.
The Sky Blues' summer signing joined the club in July for an undisclosed fee from Leyton Orient and has featured heavily during pre-season.
The 29-year old is expected to partner John Fleck in central midfield as City kick-off the season against Wigan Athletic at the Ricoh Arena, with kick-off at 3pm.
Vincelot, who has started every pre-season game, expressed his delight that the season starting and says he 'loves to win'.
The midfielder said: "I don't like pre-season as there is no competition so there is no desire to win but when the season starts, it's different.
"I love to win so I'll be going all out to get it for the team as there is no better feeling than coming off the pitch knowing you've won.
"It is a great group of players. Everyone looks out for each other and wants everyone to improve. There is no bad egg which is important.
"That is the most important thing and I'm sure with the manager we've got, we'll do really well this season."
The Frenchman has just moved up to the area and has admitted he already likes the City and the area.
He added: "It's obviously a new challenge for me as it's a new club and it always takes some getting used to. I've jjust moved to the City as well.
"But, I like everything about it. It's a really big club as well because of the history of the place and the quality of the training ground.
"It's a really professional set-up here and I can tell we're going to do well this season."
