City looked comfortable but Wes Burns gave the Robins hope when he pulled a goal back eight minutes from time.
As the home side came forward, some resolute City defending kept them at bay as the Robins went in search of an equaliser.
But, the Sky Blues held on and claimed all three points after a fine away performance.
