Sky Blues in the Community (SBITC) have revealed that Callum Scott of the Under-10 Elite PDC has signed for Coventry City Academy.

Callum becomes the 35th player to sign for a full academy from the SBITC Player Development Centres since they started in September 2010.

Callum first joined the scheme back in 2011 as an Under-7 where he initially spent a year at one of the Development entry level centres at Aylesford School in Warwick. It soon became clear that Callum had potential and a very good understanding of the game and following his end of season progress report he moved up to the Elite Performance Squad where he was training and playing with other players of a similar ability, to help them all progress with their long term player development.

In September 2014, the SBITC introduced an additional training night focusing on SAQ & individual technique work. This doubled the amount of contact time they had with Callum to three hours a week and he made sure he attended as many of these sessions as he could. Callum would also regularly attend training days during the school holidays and take part in any games that the SBITC organised for the players.

He was also selected to play in the Under-10 Junior Premier League squad on a Saturday morning and was part of the successful team who went to Swindon and won the futsal tournament. To help challenge Callum he has also played up an age group with the Under-11 teams and continued to shine.

"Callum has been a pleasure to work with and just shows that with hard work and dedication what can be achieved. He is a great trainer, always listening and wanting to learn from the coaches he has worked with and made sure he attended every match and session he could. I wish him every success in the future and will be keeping a keen eye on his progress with our academy." Shaun Pierce - Player Development Manager SBITC

"Since I took over as Head of Academy Recruitment in July 2014, one of my priorties was to continue our excellent links with our Player Development Centers and work as closely as we can together. Callum's story is a perfect example of this and we have already invited over 12 players to train from our Elite squads with our Academy Squads this season - with a lot of these still training there now." Carl McNally - Head of Academy Recruitment

“Callum is naturally excited at the opportunity he now has to be part of an exciting and growing academy team. Callum loves his football and just wants to play. Callum is thankful for this opportunity and will always be grateful to both Shaun and Craig for putting him forward to link up with the academy and test himself further.” Dave and Ali Scott, Callum's parents.
