Sky Blues in the Community (SBITC) are launching Walking Football on Thursday, December 4th at St Finbarr’s Sport and Social Club in Coventry.
The sessions will run every Thursday at 10:30am-12:00pm for adults aged 50+ carrying on into 2015.
Walking Football has been becoming increasingly popular across the Country over the past few years and Sky Blues in the Community now want to embed the game in Coventry. SBitC already run a city-wide men’s football project for adults aged 18+ and feel that Walking Football will increase both social and physical activity opportunities for older males in the city.
David Busst, Director of Sky Blues in the Community, said: "SBitC were keen to bring the ever increasing popular walking football to Coventry after some initial enquiries from the 50 + age group of CCFC supporters. Our partnership with St Finbarr’s GAA has enabled us to use a local facility for this activity and all members of the community will be welcome. The sessions are for all abilities who would like the opportunity to get active and play football and with the added value of socialising with some like-minded people and also meet and chat with former CCFC players to share memories from the past."
For those that are unsure of what Walking Football is, it is simply a slow-paced version of the beautiful game. It is designed to help people have an active lifestyle regardless of their age and ability, as well as get people back playing football. It's a great way to keep fit, learn skills, have fun and socialise all at the same time.
