Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has congratulated former striker Callum Wilson on his England Under-21s call-up.

Wilson, who moved to Championship side Bournemouth in the summer, was called up this afternoon for England's games against Portugal and France.

The Coventry-born forward moved to the South Coast after an incredible 2013/14 season, scoring 22 goals in 41 appearances for the Sky Blues.

The City boss congratulated Wilson for his first call-up and also praised the Coventry City Academy.

Pressley said: "It is terrific news and I'm really proud for the club and of course, Callum, who has worked extremely hard to get where he is.

"It's wonderful for Bournemouth but also wonderful for this club. I've always said I don't want our Academy to be producing players for League One but for a higher standard, Premier League and international standard.

"To see him called up is great news for our Academy and it's certainly a great stride in the right direction."
