CONNECTIONS: Current Notts County player Blair Adams one of many players to play for Coventry City and the Magpies

We highlight three players who have worn the sky blue and black and white shirts over the years, and what they are up to now...

Coventry City take on Notts County in SkyBet League One at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, and the two sides have shared a number of players over the years.

Here are three players that have made a bigger impact than most, starting with a current Magpie who could start against City on Saturday...

Blair Adams

Now playing for the Magpies and hoping to start against City on Saturday, South Shields-born Adams came to the Sky Blues from Sunderland after a successful loan spell.

A trainee with the North East club, Adams was loaned out to Brentford and Northampton in 2011 and 2012 respectively, making seven and 22 appearances as he looked to get first team football.

In November 2012 he came to City and made 11 appearances, establishing himself as the Sky Blues' first choice left back. The move was made permanent in January 2013, and Adams went on to make 41 more appearances across two seasons, without scoring.

This summer he left to join the Magpies, and has so far made 11 appearances, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Chesterfield in September.

Lee Hughes

One of the most lethal finishers in Football League History, Hughes spent four successful years at County between 2009 and 2013.

Starting his career at West Brom, Hughes scored 79 goals in 155 appearances. It was enough for City to spend five million and one pound on him to lure him to Highfield Road in 2001. The unusual transfer fee was due to Hughes having a release fee of anything over five million in his West Brom contract.

He scored 15 goals in 42 appearances, before returning to the Baggies the following season. After a spell at Oldham, Hughes went to County in 2009. 59 goals in 128 games followed, before leaving to join Port Vale.

He is currently playing for Forest Green Rovers in the Vanarama Premier.

David Mcgoldrick

After a career that seemed to have stalled, McGoldrick exploded back into life at the Sky Blues, where he almost averaged a goal a game.

It is little known that 'Didsy' started his career at the Magpies, and made four appearances for the first team as a 17-year old in 2004.

He then joined the Southampton youth set up, scoring 12 goals in 64 appearances once he progressed to the senior side. He enjoyed a spell back at County on loan in 2005, failing to score in 6 appearances.

He joined Nottingham Forest for one million pounds in 2009, but suffered a bad run of form, only scoring eight times in 63 appearances. He joined City on loan at the start of the 2012/13 season looking to rediscover his form.

He found it. 16 goals in 21 games saw him become City's top scorer for the season, before leaving in January 2013 to join his current club Ipswich. He is still enjoying a rich vein of form, with 23 goals in 56 games to date.
