BETTING PREVIEW - We shine a spotlight at the FA Cup First Round in a betting preview special

7 November 2014

Ahead of Coventry City's match against Worcester City at the Ricoh Arena, we look at other ties this weekend and other potential upsets…

Coventry City take on Worcester City in the FA Cup First Round at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, in what promises to be a memorable weekend as the FA Cup takes centre stage.

The First Round proper sees clubs from Leagues One and Two join the Non-League teams that have battled through qualifying to take their place in the famous velvet bag.

The draw has thrown up some tasty ties up and down the country, and we start with the lowest ranked side left in the competition.

Warrington Town are currently 17th in the Northern Premier League Division One North: the eighth tier of English Football. But they battled through the qualifying rounds to take on Exeter City in the First Round proper for the first time in their history.

They are 15/2 to pull off the upset and keep the remarkable run going, but Exeter are no strangers to causing shocks of their own, and are just 1/3 to do a professional job and stop a giant killing.

Gosport Borough are another minnow with home advantage, as they take on Colchester, who famously made it to the Fifth Round as a League One club in 2006. They are priced at 9/2, with Colchester 8/15 favourites.

Finally it is hard to begrudge Chester FC's day in the sun. Founded after the original Chester were dissolved due to finances, they have battled their way through the pyramid to find themselves in the Conference again, and in the FA Cup First Round.

They take on high-flying League Two side Southend United, and are 15/2 to keep their run going. The Shrimpers are 1/3 favourites to progress to the next round and start a cup run of their own.

With so many potential upsets and stories, it is hard to make any money this weekend. But with an impressive League Two Cambridge side taking on a stuttering League One Fleetwood, the 15/8 price of the U's is a very tempting prospect. Good luck to anyone taking the plunge this weekend!
