TOP TEN: Coventry City's top ten moments of 2013/14 - #3

22 May 2014

Check out #3 of our compiled list of the Sky Blues top ten moments on the pitch throughout the 2013/14 season

It's now the business end of our countdown of the Top Ten Sky Blues footballing moments of 2013/14!

We move into the top three where this particular evening was memorable on a number of levels.

In at three...

#3 - Beating the undefeated Orient!

City had lost just two games in League One since their opening day defeat at Crawley Town and their free-scoring form was attracting attention nationwide.

The season was now nearly three months old so the Sky Blues had made their mark. But as to whether they could stand up to a Leyton Orient side that not only beat them in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy but had also in fact won ten and drawn three of their opening 13 games of the season was the question everyone was asking.

Could City end Orient's mammoth unbeaten streak?

The answer was an emphatic yes!

Carl Baker kicked things off with a 10th-minute opener from 20 yards and then Franck Moussa doubled the advantage six minutes after the hour with a simply magnificent chip that went on to win the Football League Goal of the Year award!

Leon Clarke put the result beyond doubt with a third ten minutes later and although Yohann Lasimant grabbed a late consolation to deny City a clean sheet, the statement had already been made. Steven Pressley's men were now proven to be able to mix it with the best that League One had to offer.
