Coventry City kicked off 2014 in the best possible fashion with a rousing 3-1 win away to Rotherham on New Year's Day.

The clash with the Millers had it all with a last-minute penalty save from Joe Murphy and then a following halfway-line goal from Carl Baker to ensure the Sky Blues got the year off to a winning start.

A trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley in the FA Cup second round followed just three days later when late goals from Franck Moussa and Leon Clarke overturned Jim O'Brien's opener for the Tykes to book City a third round trip to Arsenal.

A 2-2 draw at home to Crawley followed when Andy Webster's header and an own goal looked enough to give City all the points until goals in the last seven minutes rescued a point for the visitors.

Steven Pressley's men claimed another point, this time away at Preston, when Franck Moussa's 97th minute volley from 35 yards handed City a share of the spoils in the most dramatic of fashion.

Then came the the trip to North London where the Sky Blues walked out in front or nearly 60,000 at the Emirates Stadium in search of an FA Cup fourth round berth at the expense of the competition's eventual winners, Arsenal.

The 4-0 defeat to the Gunners was perhaps slightly harsh on City after an energetic second half performance although the disapointment of a cup exit was followed by a 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient four days later.
