Under-18s claim win at Crystal Palace

3 March 2014

Darren Murray's side claimed back-to-back wins with a 4-2 victory at Crystal Palace...

Coventry City Under-18s recorded back-to-back away wins thanks to an impressive 4-2 victory at Crystal Palace.

Darren Murray's side beat Leeds United last week and goals from Ivor Lawton, James Maddison, George Thomas and an own goal saw the side continue their fantastic form.

It was Maddison who was brought down inside the area for City's first goal as captain Lawton dispatched the resulting penalty in the 26th minute.

The Sky Blues doubled their lead just two minutes later as Jay Albini's cross found Maddison who finished well.

Palace rallied though and pulled themselves level thanks to a brace from Jake Gray with goals either side of the break.

City weren't going to be denied though and went back in front with 19 minutes remaining as Palace's Jammal Howletthundle put the ball into his own net after good work from Thomas.

The away side sealed the victory in the 83rd minute as Alex Gott's quick distribution put Thomas in on goal and he stylishly lobbed the keeper from 30 yards.

Murray's side will look to continue their impressive form against Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday at the Alan Higgs Centre.
