David Prutton seals Coventry City loan

27 March 2014

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder joins the Sky Blues on loan for the remainder of the 2013/14 season

Coventry City have signed Sheffield Wednesday midfielder David Prutton on loan until the end of the 2013/14 season.

The 32-year-old, who has made ten appearances for the Owls this season, joins the Sky Blues in time for Saturday's away League One trip to Crewe Alexandra.

Prutton began his career at Nottingham Forest where he won 25 international caps for the England under-21’s before securing a Premier League move to Southampton in January 2003.

A loan return to Forest followed in 2007 along with spells at Leeds United, Colchester, Swindon, Scunthorpe and Wednesday.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley said: "With the loan departures of Adam Barton and Billy Daniels and John Fleck's two-game suspension it was vitally important that we brought in a player with established quality, leadership skills and experience and David certainly fits that mould.

"He has played at the highest domestic level but also has a detailed knowledge of this division and what it demands and we're delighted to have him on board to help us finish the season on a high note."
