'Away form is a concern' - Pressley

11 March 2014

The City boss is hoping the Sky Blues can turn around their recent away form in an 'important match' at Gillingham..

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed that the current away form ‘is a concern’ ahead of tonight’s trip to Gillingham.

The Sky Blues’ away form is the sixth best in League One but they have lost the last three away games.

Defeats at Notts County, Tranmere Rovers and Colchester United have seen City slip to 12th in the League One table.

Pressley’s side travel to Priestfield tonight looking to recover their away form and the City boss wants to see City back to their best.

Pressley said: “The away form is definitely a concern. We've been very good away from home this season so it is been disappointing to see it slide over the last few games.

“We should have won at the weekend but costly mistakes denied us a positive result. That has to improve tonight.

“I have seen real improvements in the last few games and we need to continue to build on those improvements, whilst working on the other aspects of our game.

“I have got the luxury of a few options as well, which I didn't have at the start of the season so it is something I might look to explore.”

Gillingham are currently in 14th position in the League One having recorded a 1-0 win over Crawley Town at Priestfield in their last match.

The Gills will be eager to put more distance between themselves and the drop-zone, and Pressley believes it will be an important match.

He added: “They did really well when they came to Sixfields earlier in the season and we really had to work hard to get the three points.

“They've changed their manager since so they will be a different side when we face them tonight. They are looking to get further away from the drop-zone and got a good point at the weekend.

“A win for both clubs would be massive as it takes both clubs further away from the relegation zone and up the League One table.

“I say it before most games but I will say it again. If we play to our best, we will win.”
