Sky Blues loan striker Chuba Akpom fires parent club Arsenal past Everton into FA Youth Cup semi-finals
Coventry City loan striker Chuba Akpom helped fire parent club Arsenal into the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup after scoring in last night's 3-1 home quarter-final win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
The 18-year-old striker, on loan with the Sky Blues until the end of the 2013/14 campaign, was recalled by the Gunners for their quarter-final clash with the Toffees but returns to Coventry in time for Sunday's League One tie with Port Vale.
Akpom had a hand in Jack Jebb's opener from the spot after 34 minutes when he was upended in the box to win Arsenal a penalty.
He then doubled his side's advantage five minutes before the break after beating the offside trap and applying a finish into the top corner.
Joe Williams halved the deficit for the visitors three minutes after the restart but Jebb then reinstated the two-goal cushion after 64 minutes to set Arsenal up for a last four clash with either Newcastle United or Chelsea.
