The City boss also believes the pre-season fixture against Watford represents a great opportunity for the Sky Blues....

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed he will be looking to give every player an opportunity during pre-season.

The City boss found out yesterday that the 2014/15 League One season will start at Valley Parade against Bradford City before home games against Sheffield United and Barnsley.

The Sky Blues started the 2013/14 League One season brilliantly, recording just four losses in the first 16 games, due to the intense pre-season.

The City boss wants the pre-season to have the same impact as last season and believes the Watford game represents a 'great opportunity'.

Pressley said: "The Watford game will be played at a neutral venue which appealed to both sides really so it will be a good chance for us to test ourselves against a very good Championship side.

"It was an great opportunity for us. We don't play any home pre-season fixtures which means we generally don't attract the Championship or Premier League sides for pre-season games.

"It will be a challenging week for the players, as it was last season, but it should give them the mental application to succeed during the season."

This week, the City boss confirmed the club are currently waiting for responses on 'several offers' for transfer targets and that he hopes to make some signings before the players return on July 2nd.

Before the start of the 2014/15 League One season, the City boss has confirmed he will be give every City player a chance in pre-season.

He added: "We'll be looking to give every player a chance to shine during the four-games in that week. The main thing for pre-season is of course the fitness but we also want to install a certain mentality in the side.

"You find out a lot about your players in pre-season and some players might come back firing so you have to look at every option.

"We need to be fit and ready to go at the start of the season, which we were last season. I think the four-game week was one of the main reasons behind our great start so we'll be looking for that impact again."
