Defender Cyrus Christie completes move from Coventry City to Derby County

Full back Cyrus Christie completes move to Championship side Derby County for an undisclosed fee

Defender Cyrus Christie has joined Championship side Derby County for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old full back was out of contract with the Sky Blues following the expiration of his deal in June 2014.

The switch has been made between the two clubs for an undisclosed fee rather than a figure set by tribunal which would have applied given Christie's development through the Coventry City Academy and the fact he is under 23 years of age.

Christie joined the Sky Blues youth set up as an eight-year-old and rose through the ranks to make his competitive first team debut in August 2010 at the age of 17, going on to make 116 appearances by the end of the 2013/14 season.

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley said: "We wish Cyrus all the best. He's a fantastic kid and I've really enjoyed working with him.

"We obviously made it clear that we wanted him to stay but at the same time we respect his decision to seek out a fresh challenge and for that we wish him the very best of luck."
