Sky Blues trail the Boro at half time after Gareth Dean opens the scoring in City's first friensly of their pre-season preparations

Coventry City go into the break at Liberty Way trailing Nuneaton Town 1-0 in the first friendly of their 2014/15 pre-season preparations.

Boro skipper Gareth Dean nodded home from close range after 37 minutes to give the home side the advantage at half time.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley brought two teams for two halves for the clash, handing starts to new signings Danny Swanson, Jim O'Brien and Danny Pugh for the first 45 minutes.

Swanson wasted no time in getting to grips with his new team mates, showing some flashes of creativity which twice nearly saw him break through the Nuneaton back four.

The first half an hour largely belonged to the Sky Blues, underlined by O'Brien's free kick after 25 minutes which curled around the wall and nearly snuck inside the near post, only to be parried behind for a corner by 'keeper James Wren.

It was the home side that took the lead eight minutes before the break though through skipper Gareth Dean.

A whipped in free kick from Adam Walker got a glancing head which Lee Burge did well to parry. Dean was on hand though to nod home the loose looped ball and give Nuneaton the advantage.
