Sky Blues skipper will not feature for Benin in forthcoming qualifier with Malawi after picking up thigh injury in training
Coventry City skipper Reda Johnson will not travel with the Benin national squad for their forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi
Johnson was selected for the second leg of the clash after playing in the first leg 1-0 win in Cotonou but will be unable to take part after picking up an injury during training on the Sky Blues' pre-season tour of Italy.
City boss Steven Pressley said: "Reda Johnson played 90 minutes on Sunday for Benin against Malawi and it was ahead of his pre-season fitness schedule.
"He has had an adverse effect from the game and has a slight thigh strain. I've contacted Benin's national team manager and explained the situation to him."
