Sky Blue pair on their bikes!

Conor Thomas and Cyrus Christie jump on the smoothie bikes to promote healthy eating with Asda

Cyrus Christie and Conor Thomas dropped into the Whitley Asda store last Friday to help launch the new Sky Blues in the Community smoothie bikes, funded by the Asda Foundation.

Sky Blues staff were on hand to demonstrate how the smoothie bikes work and rustle up some delicious fresh fruit smoothies for surprised Asda customers last Friday.

The players were joined by students from Whitley Abbey Primary School during the afternoon, who visited the store to test out the bikes and put their questions to Cyrus and Conor about the healthy lifestyle required to be a professional footballer.

Over the coming 12 months, the community team will work alongside Asda to promote healthy eating and exercise in schools in the Whitley area as a result of the grant provided by the Asda Foundation.

Members of the Sky Blues in the Community ‘Ability Counts’ adult disability team were also in the store on the day, providing a bag packing service for customers helping to raise funds to cover the cost of running the disability teams.

David Busst from Sky Blues in the Community said “It was a really good day at the Asda store, and fantastic to promote both our healthy eating smoothie bikes and increase awareness about our disability teams.

“Conor and Cyrus were both great with the children and customers, and we are very thankful to both Asda and the Asda Foundation for helping make these things possible.”
