'Leon Clarke is an option' - Pressley

17 January 2014

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley has confirmed the City striker is in his thoughts for the Preston game...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed that striker Leon Clarke will be ‘in his thoughts’ when he picks his starting XI to play Preston North End at Deepdale tomorrow.

The striker missed out on the 2-2 draw against Crawley Town last Sunday but Pressley says he will pick him if needed.

“He trained on Wednesday for the first time this week,” he said, “and he is absolutely in my thoughts when it comes to playing tomorrow.

“Leon has a duty to perform for the club and has a duty to his team-mates to behave in the utmost professional manner.”

Dan Seaborne, who has signed for the Sky Blues from Yeovil Town on an 18-month deal, may also feature.

With Andy Webster and Jordan Willis also in contention for the game against Preston, the new competition for the centre-back spot pleases the Sky Blues boss.

“We've got great competition in defence now, Dan has come in and he’s great to have (in the team).”

There are no new serious injuries, as City look to get their first ever league win at Deepdale. Callum Wilson is still the only long term absentee, however, Pressley revealed that Billy Daniels was carrying a knock from the last game.

“He (Daniels) hasn't trained since Crawley but he should be back training today, but other than that we have a relatively clean bill of health.”
