Fleck could face Barnsley

3 January 2014

Sky Blues midfielder expected to return to the fold for Barnsley after missing New Years Day win at Rotherham after returning to training

Coventry City midfielder John Fleck could be back in the first team fold for this weekend's FA Cup third round clash away at Barnsley after returning to training.

Fleck missed out on the New Years Day 3-1 win away at Rotherham as a precaution following a slight tweak of his hamstring but was in first team training on the eve of the trip to Oakwell and boss Steven Pressley said he would definitely feature providing he felt no after effects of the session.

"John's been in training today and hopefully there's been no after effects of that so if he feels good then he will definitely be involved," Pressley said.

The City boss also gave an update on fellow midfielder Conor Thomas who spent the night in hospital in Rotherham after suffering a head in jury in the win over the Millers on Wednesday.

Thomas was stretchered off the pitch in the second half with what was feared to be a serious facial injury although subsequent scans revealed there was no damage.

"Conor's not been in today but he's fine and if all goes according to plan he should be available for selection against Crawley Town although Jordan Clarke we don't think will be in a position to be available for the weekend," Pressley added.
