Coventry City Football Club have terminated the contract of striker Denzel Slager by mutual consent, subject to Football League and FA approval.

The Dutch youngster made one start and three substitute appearances for the Sky Blues having signed from Dutch Eredivisie side RKC Waalwijk in the January 2014 transfer window.

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley said: "As we all know, it is sometimes difficult for a player to adapt from one country to another and even experienced players have struggled in the past.

"It's regrettable that we find ourselves in this position as Denzel is a talented young player but at this moment in his development, he would prefer to continue his career in his homeland."

Both parties have tried to overcome these issues but that has not been possible and therefore, it is been agreed that Denzel will return to Holland.

Pressley added: "We completely appreciate the level of committment Denzel has shown and we wish him all the very best in his future career."
