'Not feeling any pressure' - Wilson

28 February 2014

The returning City striker also hopes he can forge a partnership with Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom...

Coventry City forward Callum Wilson has said that he is ready to ‘show everyone what I’m about’ following his recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

Wilson is in contention to start Sunday’s SkyBet League One clash against Shrewsbury Town after spending eight weeks on the sidelines following the injury he sustained on New Year’s Day at Rotherham.

The 21-year old is confident he can step up again for the Sky Blues, after notching 15 goals in all competitions this season.

Wilson said: “There’s been a lot of people saying that there’s pressure on me but it’s not about pressure. I'm not feeling any pressure.

"I just want to get out there and show everyone what I can do, and what I’m about.

“At times it’s been frustrating for me, but I’ve had to keep my emotions in check.

“Now I’m back I want to help my teammates out. I’m ready to score some goals again.”

Wilson also said that since returning to training, he’s been getting to play alongside City’s new strikers, and that there is potential for a new partnership.

“It’s been fantastic to get back out onto the pitch. I’ve been working with Chuba (Akpom) recently, and it’s been good so far.

“The way he plays, there are similarities to him and me. Hopefully that can be good for the team, and we can get a good partnership going.

“Hopefully soon, the goals will start flowing in again.”

Despite having eight weeks out, Callum Wilson looked in fine form during shooting practice in training!
