Coventry company City Signs and Graphics sponsor City defender Jordan Willis...
Most people would confess to having a lucky number, whether it be because of superstition, fortune or just an inkling.
But for one Coventry business, it appears that fate has played a part in their recent experiences with the number 19.
City Signs and Graphics business owner Carl Cox has a funny affiliation with the number.
The business, based in Hillfields, in its third year of trading, specialises in creating signs and banners for everything from vehicle livery and shop signs to large format printing.
Carl confesses that 19 is his lucky number, and after a recent move, the business ended up being based at Unit 19 in Napier Street.
On top of that, Carl, a lifelong Coventry City fan, made the decision to sponsor the away kit of 19-year-old Jordan Willis, who wears the number 19 for the Sky Blues!
Carl admitted that the sponsorship wasn’t influenced by his attachment to the number, because he merely wanted to help the club he supports and sponsor a talented young player.
“Nineteen has always been lucky for me since I passed my driving test many years ago on the 19th so it started from there really,” Carl said.
“Being a local lad, I have been watching City for a number of years, hence the name of our business and also the sky blue colours are used on our logo.
“I believe now more than ever that we should back this group of young lads at City and I see Jordan as a future prospect in the group. The sponsorship wasn’t related to the number, it was just luck! It’s great to sponsor a player and I feel that I can help the club by supporting Jordan.
“It would be great if more businesses could get behind the club to help.”
Coventry City corporate sales manager Tynan Scope is delighted that Carl has decided to sponsor the young defender.
Tynan said: “The whole story with the number is very quirky and it’s funny Carl picked Jordan who is number 19!
“The sponsorship came about from Twitter, when we promoted the opportunity through our @SkyBluesinBiz Twitter account via the #CovHour which runs on Twitter every Thursday night between 8pm-9pm.
