City against racism and homophobia

26 February 2014

Sky Blues will show support for anti-descrimination campaigns Kick It Out and Football Against Homophobia at the home clash with the Shrews

Coventry City Football Club will show their support for the Kick It Out campaign at Sunday’s game against Shrewsbury (March 2, 3pm).

The club had previously scheduled the home game against Walsall as its nominated Kick It Out fixture but the postponement to that match meant it had to be rearranged.

There will be a range of activities on the day, including a chance for younger supporters to create their own Kick It Out posters in the Family Zone.

Sky Blues marketing manager Stacie McDermott said: “Kick It Out has done fantastic work over the years to really fight racism and prejudice in football and that work continues.

“Coventry City Football Club remains very much behind the campaign.

“We have also been backing Football against Homophobia, which is a more recent initiative but, once again, it is an issue that everyone connected with the football club is keen to support.”

A special edition of the matchday programme features the club’s top-scorer and Kick It Out Next 20 ambassador Callum Wilson on the front cover.

Wilson recently visited President Kennedy School when he and team-mate Conor Thomas met over 50 pupils as part of Kick It Out’s ‘Write to Unite’ campaign.

“The whole club is behind the campaign and Callum is a fantastic ambassador for Kick It Out and, indeed, Coventry City,” added Stacie.

Tickets are available for the League One clash with Shrewsbury, with Standard Zone prices at £16 for adults and £11 for concessions, while juniors are £8 and under-sevens are £4.

Meanwhile in the Family Zone, adults are £13, concessions are £9, juniors are £7 and under sevens are just £3.
