'Tis the season! Plenty of festive entertainment on hand at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow as City take on Fleetwood Town

20 December 2014

Treats for Junior Sky Blues as well as a live acoustic band are just a few of the pre-match activities on offer at the game tomorrow afternoon...

The Ricoh Arena will be rockin’ to the sounds of Christmas, as well as the Sky Blue Song, at Saturday’s match against Fleetwood.

City have cut ticket prices to £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for children for the game and the festive atmosphere will be building before kick-off with a host seasonal activities going on around the ground.

Local band Ampersand will warm things up with a selection of festive tunes in two pre-match sets from 1:45pm to 2:10pm and 2:35pm to 2:45pm. Santa and Sky Blue Sam will then be on the pitch at half-time to ramp up the Christmas countdown for younger supporters, and there will be plenty going throughout the day in the JSB area of the Family Zone.

The club’s Group Tickets Scheme has allowed 10 groups of fans to attend the match at a discounted rate, and they will take part in on-pitch parades. Look out for Santa’s sleigh around the ground too, as Coventry and Nuneaton Round Table will be collecting donations for its Christmas Wish Fund, which helps arrange bespoke wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

And Sky Blues in the Community will be out in force to tell people about their award-winning InForm programme, which aims to assist men who want to improve their health and wellbeing. City are also encouraging supporters to don their Christmas jumpers to contribute to what should be a fantastic occasion.

Mark Hornby, head of marketing at Coventry City, said: “We wanted to do something special to celebrate the festive season with our supporters.

“As well as this being a crucial match for Steven Pressley and the team, there should be something for everyone with the various activities we have going on around the ground. “We have a local acoustic covers band called Ampersand playing some Christmas favourites before kick-off, which should help create a great atmosphere.

“There will be lots going on for our younger supporters too, as this is such a special time of year for them as the Christmas countdown really gets under way.

“We must also remember this is a time to help those less fortunate and we hope supporters will be as generous as they always are, with Coventry and Nuneaton Round Table giving up their time to collect for their fantastic Christmas Wish Fund.”
