Manager Steven Pressley spoke to the Coventry Telegraph this week about youngster Ryan Haynes – here is what he had to say…
Coventry City boss Steven Pressley has praised full-back Ryan Haynes, saying that the youngster can mature into a wide midfielder in the future.

The 19-year-old has burst into the squad this year with 19 appearances so far this campaign, and has played in midfield over the past few weeks as opposed to full-back where he began his first-team stay.

Pressley believes he has the attributes to become a winger in the future and is pleased with his progress so far.

“Given time, he can be a really effective wide player,” Pressley said.

“We’re really pleased with his progress – he’s still got so much to go in terms of his character, but that will come.

“I think he prefers playing forward because Ryan’s biggest strength is his attacking sense. It takes away the degree of pressure of defending and, with time, I think he could really grow into the wide position here.

“He can get goals and he’s really fit and quick which means he can eliminate players, and the wide men have to be able to do that.

“He’s probably the quickest player at the club, has a terrific delivery and he’s great at one to ones.”
