"Maybe we can bring in personnel but it is tougher than just identifying a target and bringing him in." Coventry City's Steven Pressley

The Sky Blues boss believes that signing players in January is tougher than it looks but is looking to recruit in the window...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed that work has began on finding players to sign in the January transfer window.

The City boss has revealed he would like to sign Gary Madine on a permanent basis should Sheffield Wednesday want to let the player go alongside a creative player "who can unlock defences."

But Pressley has stressed that it is not an easy period for any club and that the recruitment of players in this window is a lot tougher than it appears as a plethora of factors come in to play in the signing of a player.

"Everyone wants to sign players in January but it is a difficult period," said Pressley.

"On Saturday we had a period of sustained pressure, but couldn't quite unlock the defence and I think that's an area we need to look at in January.

"Maybe we can bring in that personnel who can unlock the door but it is tougher than just identifying a target and bringing him in.

"Players are extremely difficult to bring in and teams don't want to lose their players in this period. There are so many different factors to a transfer that remain unnoticed, we're looking to do business but it is not easy.

"Gary Madine is Sheffield Wednesday's player and we respect that immensely. We've spoken to Gary initially about his future and we would like him to stay, but again that is up to Sheffield Wednesday entirely."

Despite looking to recruit in January, Pressley has praised the squad's attitude of late which has seen City go on a four game unbeaten league run.

But regardless of results, the manager is eager to see yet more improvement ahead of the final games of 2014.

He continued: "There is a real willingness around the group at the moment.

"I think that everyone's attitude is first-class with tactics as well at the moment, but again it's just that final moment and final detail we need to improve on.

"This league is a very tough league, any team on any given day is capable of beating any other team so if you aren't at it every week you can be beaten.

"Although our form of late has been reasonable I still believe we can do much better than we have. We have to keep improving and keep on working at everything to make sure we get results in this league."
