HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City to play Chesterfield for the first time in 53 years

27 December 2014

The Sky Blues last played the Spireites in March 1961 and will look to improve on ten wins from 22 all-time matches...

Coventry City take on Chesterfield tomorrow at the Ricoh Arena in the first meeting between the two sides for 53 years.

After being promoted to League One as League Two champions last season, the Spireites are now in the same division as the Sky Blues for the first time since the 1960/61 season.

The last time City took on Chesterfield was in March 1961 and the pair have clashed 22 times throughout their history - with 14 of those post World War II.

City have won ten of those 22 games, losing only once of the last eight meetings.

Chesterfield have beaten City eight times with only four draws between the clubs.

The Sky Blues have won their last four home games in a row against the Spireites and will be looking to extend that record tomorrow.
