HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City take on Port Vale tomorrow looking to record their eighth win over the Valiants

12 December 2014

The two sides have only ever met in the league but can be buoyed by their spirit last time out when they came from two goals down to draw…

Coventry City take on Port Vale tomorrow at Vale Park in SkyBet League One and if the all-time record is anything to go by, they may be slight underdogs.

City have won seven of their 26 meetings, with Vale victorious in ten. There have been nine draws over the years, including last time out in March when the Sky Blues came from two goals down to draw 2-2.

Six of City's seven wins have been by the odd goal, the only anomaly being in 1921, when the Sky Blues won 4-1 at Highfield Road.

City haven't beat Port Vale for 54 years, their last victory being a 1-0 win in the old Third Division in 1960. The Valiants have been unbeaten in the last ten, however between 1964 and 2013 there was no games between the two sides due to the teams being in different leagues.

Seven of the last eight games have been decided by one goal or been a draw, so there is every chance that tomorrow's game could be very even indeed.
