FEATURE: Find out what Coventry City captain Jim O'Brien likes the most about Christmas!

22 December 2014

What is Jim O'Brien's favourite Christmas present? We pose the big Christmas questions to the Coventry City captain...

With Christmas this week, we thought we would ask some of the Coventry City players and staff what Christmas means to them!

The feature, which was in the PUSB match-day programme at the weekend as City got a 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town, gives an insight into what makes Christmas for the City stars.

First up, club captain Jim O'Brien...

What is on your Christmas list this year?

Three points on Boxing Day of course. We’ve got a baby on the way in January so we’re going to get a couple of bits and bobs. We’re just looking forward until the baby comes to be honest.

Best Christmas present you’ve ever had?

A guitar. My first guitar. I remember at school, everyone was getting a computer or golf clubs but I got a guitar when I was 12. I could have had a computer or a guitar, and I chose the guitar.

Best present you’ve ever given?

I gave my mum a car about four years ago. It’s a Suzuki Vitara, like a mini jeep. She’s still got it so it must have been a good one.

What you looking forward to on Christmas Day this year?

It’s going to be tough this year as usually my family come down but we’re going to my missus’ family this year. I won’t see my family so that will be tough. However, the best thing I like about Christmas is the song’s. It takes me back and my favourite would have to be Wham, Last Christmas!

First football gift?

My grandad always used to buy me the Celtic strip. I remember getting two Liverpool strips one year as well, but I got a Playstation that year so it didn’t get much of a look in!

What traditions do you or your family have at Christmas?

Our family open the Christmas Presents just after midnight on Christmas Eve. It’s always been the way we do it.
