In the 12 days leading up to Christmas we're giving Sky Blues supporters a '12 days of Christmas' feature, where every day in the build up to the big day we'll be reflecting on legends and big matches, as well as offering some fantastic competitions to celebrate the festive period. On Day Four of our 12 days, we reflect on one of the most impressive victories in City's top flight history, as they netted four in a memorable victory over Liverpool...

Coventry City secured one of the most memorable victories in their top flight history as they beat Liverpool 4-0 at Highfield Road in 1983.

The Reds, reigning English champions who would also go on to the defend their crown that year, played a full strength side including the likes of Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen but it was not enough as the Sky Blues romped to victory.

A magical hat-trick from Terry Gibson and Nick Platnauer's strike condemned the Reds to a comprehensive defeat as Highfield Road witnessed one of it's greatest ever matches.
