Coventry City 1-1 Fleetwood Town - Simeon Jackson's late equaliser gives City a point

20 December 2014

The Canadian came off the bench to earn a point for the Sky Blues

Coventry City extended their unbeaten run in the league to four games as substitute Simeon Jackson netted a late equaliser as the Sky Blues drew 1-1 to Fleetwood.

The Canadian netted his third goal for the club to take a share of the spoils for City at the Ricoh Arena.

The opening goal came on against the run of play on 19 minutes when Gareth Evans cut inside from the left and his right-footed cross was nodded on by Andy Webster and past Ryan Allsop into the net.

A minute later City went close, when John Fleck picked the ball up on the left and his cross unintentionally swung only inches over the bar.

The clearest chance of the first-half for the Sky Blues fell to Josh McQuoid who burst into the right-hand side of the penalty area and lashed an effort narrowly over the near post.

McQuoid then made way for James Maddison at the break and straight after the interval it almost became a different game, when Ryan Haynes was challenged in the box by Antoni Sarcevic, but the referee booked Haynes for diving when it looked like contact was made.

City began to build the pressure and continued to dominate possession, but found clear-cut chances hard to come by as the visitors defended stoutly.

With 18 minutes to go Danny Swanson made way for Jackson and the Canadian found the the equaliser on 79 minutes.

Ryan Haynes' cross from the right was met by Gary Madine at the back-post and his goal bound header was nicked in by Jackson two-yards out.

But that was the last real action as City extended their unbeaten run to four league games.
