The City boss has also revealed Marcus Tudgay, Reda Johnson and Mohamed Coulibaly are all in contention...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has revealed Ryan Haynes could in place of the injured Danny Pugh against Sheffield United.

The young City left-back came on for the experienced Pugh against Cardiff City in the Capital One Cup and provided an assist Shaun Miller tucked home his left-wing cross in the 2-1 defeat.

The City boss has also revealed on-loan winger Mohamed Coulibaly is set to be in the match-day squad after recovering from a groin injury and captain Reda Johnson should return.

Pressley said: "Danny Pugh remains a real doubt. He went for a MRI scan yesterday and when we get the results back from that, we will assess his injury.

"It is a big blow for us but I have a lot of faith in Ryan Haynes. I've always been a manager who trusts his young players and Ryan has got a lot of experience in the first-team group.

"It's a great opportunity for him to really stake a claim in the first-team and say I'm ready to step up.

"Marcus Tudgay is feeling much better so we're expecting him to return and Reda joined in training yesterday so he should be fine.

"Also, it is good to see Mohamed Coulibaly in contention. He is back training and even though he has had no game-time, he will come into the group for the game."
