Signing up their latest player kit sponsor was music to the ears of Coventry City’s commercial team.
Cambridgeshire-based Cyrus Audio has become full-back Cyrus Christie’s away kit sponsor for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.
The audio technology company has recently launched a new Bluetooth ‘soundcan’ which allows music-lovers to hear their favourite tunes from their mobile, tablet or laptop in superb, high quality. It can also act as a speaker-phone during conference calls.
Cyrus Audio has a reputation for making some of the best hi-fi technology in the world, and the company has condensed that technology down into the tiny soundcan speaker.
Tynan Scope, corporate sales manager, said the deal was all down to the name.
He said: “I’ve realised since doing this job that Coventry City fans are everywhere! A member of staff at Cyrus Audio is, indeed, a Sky Blues supporter and suggested that they get in touch with us regarding Cyrus Christie – because of the obvious connection.
“Even though the season is coming to an end, we came up with a good package for them to sponsor Cyrus’ away kit and they decided to go for it.
“There are lots of opportunities for sponsorship and promotion with Coventry City Football Club and companies and organisations from not only this area, but across the country are tapping into that.
“This is a great example of how, with a bit of thought, a business can raise its profile with a quirky sponsorship deal.”
The club will be running competitions soon to give fans the chance to win Cyrus soundcans so supporters should keep an ‘ear’ out for information.
