Coventry City to provide free coach travel for Diamond Club members to the Wolverhampton Wanderers game

Coventry City are providing free coach for members of the Diamond Club for this weekend’s visit of Wolves.

Any members of the club will be able to access the free transport to Sixfields after a request was made by Diamond Club and Supporters Consultative Group (SCG) member Ray Stephens.

Ray attended a recent lunch with the Diamond Club, where many of its members approached him to say that they wanted to attend games at Sixfields but couldn't get there.

He raised the point at an SCG meeting in March and the club have responded by putting on free travel for Diamond Club members for the weekend derby with Wolves.

The Sky Blues will also put on discounted travel for the club’s members - when purchased with a match ticket - for selected matches next season, starting with free travel for the opening home game.

Ray said: “I appreciate that many supporters aren’t going to Sixfields out of protest but many of the Diamond Club members I spoke to said it was a case of they couldn't go rather than they wouldn't go.

“They knew I had a position on the SCG and asked me to raise it with the club, so I did.

“Tynan Scope, the club’s corporate sales manager, said he would feed back to me and I am delighted with this outcome and I hope it means a few more of our older supporters can get to see the team.”

Tynan said the club was open to ideas from fans.

He said: “The club recognise the difficulties many supporters have in getting to games at Sixfields.

“Ray raised this point at the SCG meeting in March and we said we would look at it to find a way of helping members of the Diamond Club.

“The Wolves game is just a start and we will look to roll this at more matches next season, starting on the opening day of the 2014/15 season.

“Feedback from supporters via the SCG and its members or directly to the club is something we always welcome and we will always take on board and try to resolve.

“The SCG was established originally to help improve the experience for supporters at home and away matches and, despite the obvious difficulties this season, we are delighted that this dialogue is intact to help to solve issues such as this.”

Free coach places are subject to availability and are on a first come first served basis.

For more information on the free travel, Diamond Club members should call 02476 992 326.
