Sky Blues in the Community will be organising a sponsored cycle ride on Sunday 20th October to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
The sponsored cycle will be supported by a range of partners including Cycle Coventry, Centro and Decathlon, and will start and finish at the Arena Park Shopping Centre on Phoenix Way.
The event is open to men and women aged 16+, with limited spaces available. Individuals will be able to choose the length of their ride with 10, 20 and 30 mile distances available.
Participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship money for Prostate Cancer UK, with incentives on offer for those who raise £100, £200 and £300. One hundred percent of the money raised goes to Prostate Cancer UK, with sponsorship and donations raised through www.justgiving.com/Man-Mile-Cycle.
Prostate Cancer UK is the official charity partner of the Football League, and is committed to developing a movement for change in men’s health – together with football fans of all ages across the UK. Every penny raised will be used to fund vital research and support services. Every year 40,000 men in England are diagnosed with prostate cancer and it is estimated that one in eight men will contract the condition during their lifetime.
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “I am delighted that the Sky Blues are helping us to raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer. Our thanks go out to everyone involved in setting this up.”
Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley is keen to lend his support to the sponsored ride: “This is a fantastic event, as it raises money for Prostate Cancer UK and also encourages people to get on their bike to get fit and healthy.
“Football has a unique way of helping to promote important messages like this, so myself and the players are only too pleased to get behind this event, and encourage people to take part in the Man Mile Cycle.”
Spaces are limited on the event and will be offered on a first come first served basis. The event is open to individuals, family and friends or work colleagues.
