City midfielder Conor Thomas reveals he is enjoying his central midfield partnership with John Fleck...
Coventry City midfielder Conor Thomas has lauded his City teammate John Fleck ahead of the Sheffield United match on Sunday.
The City duo have formed an effective partnership in central midfield this season, with both starting every game so far this season.
If Thomas plays against the Blades on Sunday, it will equal the amount of appearances he made throughout an injury-ridden 2012/13 season.
As the Academy graduate continues to impress for the Sky Blues, he has praised his central midfield partner.
Thomas said: "I have really enjoyed this season so far and I really enjoy playing alongside (John) Fleck. I think he is a top quality player.
"I can't speak highly enough of him really and whenever I get the ball, I always look to see where he is on the pitch and see whether I can bring him into play.
"He is a pleasure to play with. Since I started playing football, if I'm being honest, he is the player I have most enjoyed playing with.
"We have formed a really good partnership and he seems to understand the way I play as well which is really important."
City face a difficult October with trips to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Walsall whilst league-leaders Leyton Orient travel to Sixfields.
Thomas came close to scoring in midweek against the O's and he admits he would like to score more goals from midfield.
He added: "It is something I am always working on in training and looking to improve. I spend a lot of time at the end of training sessions doing a bit of shooting practice so hopefully it will pay off.
"I would like to get goals but of course, there is a bigger picture than just my game. The gaffer doesn't like me to break forward that much as I have to be there to protect the defence against any counter-attacks.
"But, I always look to improve, like most footballers do and goals is something I would love to add to my game."
