Sky Blues striker says it will be a proud moment when he opens the new CCFC Superstore on Thursday
Callum Wilson is enjoying life in the Sky Blues limelight – and says Thursday’s ribbon cutting at the new club superstore will be a proud moment.
The 21-year-old, who has fired 11 league goals for City this season, will unveil the new CCFC Superstore at the Gallagher Retail Park alongside manager Steven Pressley on Thursday (November 14).
And the young, homegrown striker – who is now recognised by everyone from shoppers to electric meter readers after his blistering start to the 2013/14 campaign – can’t wait.
He said: “When I was kid, this is one of the things you imagine doing as a football player.
“It’s going to be nice to be there on the night and cutting the ribbon.”
Wilson was a regular at Highfield Road as he followed the fortunes of Coventry City and Arsenal.
And the striker – the joint leading goalscorer in League One, alongside strike partner Leon Clarke – can distinctly remember his first piece of CCFC merchandise adorning his bedroom wall.
He said: “I used to like watching Arsenal on television but because I was a local boy, I obviously used to go to Coventry games, with a family friend, so it was nice to go all the time.
“I had a Season Ticket in the West Terrace at Highfield Road and the first bit of club merchandise I can remember was having a City wallpaper border around my bedroom.”
Wilson will be joined by team-mates Jordan Clarke, Jordan Willis, Aaron Phillips, Conor Thomas and Cyrus Christie at the official opening on Thursday, November 14.
Season Ticket holders will be given an exclusive look at the store between 5pm and 6pm before a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Sky Blues boss Pressley and Wilson.
Season Ticket holders will need to bring Season Tickets to gain entry for the exclusive hour.
The store, which will be a retail, ticketing and community hub for Coventry City, will then be opened to the public between 6pm and 8pm on the night.
Coach Neil MacFarlane and FA Cup-winning legend and goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic will also be there.
Season Ticket holders will receive a 20 per cent discount on merchandise on the night and members will get 10 per cent off.
Following the opening event, the store will be open as normal from Friday (Nov 15) from 9.30am until 5.30pm.
General opening hours will be Monday to Saturday from 9.30am until 5.30pm and on Sunday from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
