'Team of the Month award' - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has praised the team and his backroom staff after winning the SkyBet League Manager of the Month award for October.

The Sky Blues had a fantastic month, winning four out of five matches in League One, including ending Leyton Orient's unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 win at Sixfields.

City now sit in 11th position in the League One table, despite starting the season with a 10 point deduction, and are just three points off the League One play-off positions.

The City boss expressed his delight at winning the award but was quick to praise the hard work of the entire club.

Pressley said: "Of course, I am delighted. But the truth is, with these sort of awards, they aren't individual awards.

"A manager can be doing a lot of good work in the background at the football club, but maybe you don't get the results.

"So, when you win an award like this, it is down to a team effort. It is really a Team of the Month award.

"We've made some great progress over the last month, picked up some fantastic results and the hard work of the entire club deserves a lot of credit."

City followed up an unbeaten October with an impressive 3-0 victory at Sixfields against Notts County before the trip to AFC Wimbledon tonight.

He continued: "We've improved, but as yet, we have not achieved anything. I know it brings the so-called kiss of death but I'm sure that won't play out against AFC Wimbledon.

"We have prepared properly for the match so I am sure the award will have no bearing on the result.

"I am continuously seeing improvements from the side and that really pleases. As long as that keeps happening, I will be delighted."
