Coventry City secure the services of striker Chris Dagnall on loan until January 2014

Coventry City have signed Barnsley striker Chris Dagnall on an emergency loan deal until January.

The 27-year-old, who has made ten appearances and scored one goal for the Tykes this season, will remain with the Sky Blues up to and including Sunday, January 5th.

Dagnall has netted 80 goals in nearly 240 league appearances in a career which started at Tranmere Rovers in 2003 before he went on to net 57 goals in 128 appearances for League Two side Rochdale between 2006 and 2010.

He also made five appearances and scored one goal in a one-month loan spell at Bradford City at the tail end of last season to help the Bantams secure promotion to League One.

City boss Steven Pressley said: "I've spoken about our need to add to the squad to freshen things up and give our players some help and Chris will certainly be able to do that.

"I'm fully aware of his capabilities having spent quite alot of time watching him in the early part of his career at Rochdale and he made a lasting impression on me.

"His work ethic and his eye for goal will certainly give us a boost and I'm looking forward to working with him."
