'Jumped at the chance' - Seaborne

29 November 2013

New City loan signing hopes to draw on his League One experience during his stay at Coventry City...

Coventry City defender Dan Seaborne has revealed he 'jumped at the opportunity' to join the Sky Blues on loan.

The 26-year-old, who has made 11 appearances in the Championship for the Glovers this season, will remain with the Sky Blues up to and including Sunday, January 5th.

The former Southampton centre-back will go straight into the squad for the game against MK Dons tomorrow, where an expected 7000 City fans will travel to stadium:MK.

Having found first-team opportunities at Huish Park difficult to come by this season, Seaborne was delighted to seal his move to City.

The defender said: "It has been difficult to nail down a starting spot for Yeovil Town this season and I was eager to get out and play games.

"I spoke to my agent and spoke to the manager at Yeovil to make the situation clear to them. When Coventry come up and said they were interested, I jumped at the chance.

"There were a couple of options juggling about and we had two days to get something sorted. When I spoke to the manager, my mind was made up as he shown a real desire to get me here which is great.

"That's why I chose to come here as when a manager shows the desire to get you here then you know you will get game-time."

Seaborne's professional career saw him rise through the ranks at Exeter City where he was part of the side that won back-to-back promotions from the Conference to League One between 2007 and 2009.

He moved to Southampton from Exeter where he helped the side gain back-to-back promotions so Seaborne will be able to draw on vast League One experience.

He added: "I have a lot of good experience at this level and hopefully I use some of that during my stay here. The team have done really well so far this season and hopefully I can help them carry on achieving.

"This is a massive club and they have had a great start to the season so hopefully this is the start of a revival for the club.

"I'm a leader on the pitch and I want to use some of my qualities whilst I'm here, starting with tomorrow's game at MK Dons."
